importing revit into max 9

I am importing a Revit model into max 9. Unfortunately, despite all of our best efforts, the model imports as 10k's of single objects with the same name, despite the fact that there are only 4-6 layers.

I tried, modifying the import settings in max and export in revit. I edited the model in Autocad creating new layers, exploding the groups, changing elements into the new layers etc with no success.

Any ideas about what is happening?

Hi

Max also imports the materials from Revit. I use the imported materials to select objects in Max and then assign Max materials. There are scripts which can help you organize your Max objects by materials.

I do that all the time and never had an issue. You say you only got 6 layers, so it's a really small model ?
