It is usually related to display issues ( read video card) try turning off the OpenGL intead of Google Desktop :-)

actually the open GL was originally off.
I turned it on after getting this error message and it still did not work.
I was freeking out because my title sheet could not be opened.
Rebooting fixed the problem
open GL is still on and my 3D is still working
I spoke too soon

Excellent.
Check for video driver update, and maybe lower the hardware acceleration on your card.

I get the message when I loads of windows open in Revit. Try "close all hidden windows" - works for me....

A way to get back into the drawing is :
right click on drawing (floor plan for me as I type this) )in the project browser
select properties
alter the value of 'Display Model' from normal to do not display.
now open the drawing (floor plan) and zoom in so there will not be as much info on the screen when you turn the display model back on.
Last step:
right click again to bring up the same properties dialogue as before and alter the value of 'display model' back to normal.
I am finding that a rather large imported dwg file is causing this problem at present.
The concept of the above is to reduce the amount of graphical info on the screen so you can open up the drawing you want (like the floor plan) and do something about it - ie change zoom.
Hoping this helps someone,
Rob

A word of warning when updating the graphic card drivers. We had two users experiencing the same warning after installing RAC 2008 and updating their project from 9.1 to 2008.
We decided to update their drivers to the latest versions (ATI cards) and now the program crashes (exit to desktop without dialog box or warning) whenever the the "Graphics" tab is selected in the options menu. (Settings>Options...>) Because of this we are waiting before updating any more drivers.
We are sending this one into support now.

I too had a bad experience with an ATI driver update some month ago (x1600pro).
Wishing I had an nvidia card instead.
Also, the error/closed window has plagued me on certain projects.

I usually get this error when I am trying to move something by only a small amount. I either zoom-in closer so that the item I am moving is now moving a greater distance (on the screen) or if I am moving a line I'll just redraw it in the new position.
