I am trying to get the spot elevation to appear in the middle of the room, instead of against the wall. If I place it in the middle of the room, the dim reads as the top of the ceiling (its 2 1/4" thick). Is there a way to have it show up as the bottom of the thickness?

hit Tab before placing the spot dim to see if it will find the right surface.

I tried but that doesn't work, nothing highlights. Has anyone ever experienced this? If so, what are your workarounds?

We use a ceiling tag that reports the height rather than a spot dimension in this case. The tag can go anywhere in the room.

Thanks for the help! It took some fiddling with the family but I managed to get what I wanted and to keep the annotation parametric.

Does anyone know how to get the spot elevation for a sloping surface?

Either that or I need to offset a spot elevation to account for the thickness of a roof at least at the T.O Steel tags.

I have it set to the top of steel now and I need to add another string of text to show the top of finished roof at the intersection of my grid lines.

Workaround: Make a little hole in your floor and you will then have an edge to spot-dimension.

That’s a really good idea thanks. I see you are from the 617... I knew someone from the 617 area code would find a way. My roots are in Boston. Damn I miss decent Pizza. Thanks for the tip. Hey they opened a Papa Gino's by the new Channel 2 Building.

Would you care to share that with me?
