Has anyone ever successfully created ceiling-based families whose position is supposed to stay a constant distance above a level? We are trying to create light fixtures where the fixture stays a constant height above the floor, but the fixture is supposed to be connected to the ceiling via a "stem" that flexes as the height of the ceiling changes. The intention is to have a constant elevation for the lights in rooms where the ceiling slopes.
In my own attempt (see attached .rfa file), everything flexes properly in the family editor (family.gif), but when an instance is placed in a model (model.gif), the dimensional constraint is changed to a height above the ceiling instead of a height above the floor, like in the family editor.
Any advice would be appreciated.
