Tagging Components Within A Family?

Is it possible to tag components within a family? I have a handicapped shower stall using other families... Seat, Grab Bar, Controls, Etc... I'd like to be able to assign an equipment tag to each nested family so it can be noted in the drawings however it seems I can only tag the actual handicapped shower it self.

If your other families are set to be shared, you should be able to tag them. You may want to consider group such a diverse of families, rather then creating a super family. groups can be saved to your library just like a family, and while they are not parametric, you can easily un-group them and re-arange items for custom locations/changes. As opposed to a family where you would either have to build all the parametrics into the family (making for a fairly complex family) or you would have to edit the family on a regular basis.
