AUGI's:

I've placed my Toolbars where I've had them in the past. Each time I open ADT 2005 some of them have moved. One time I got duplicates of Toolbars stacked above one another. What have I done wrong?

Thanks,

JiM Cronburg

Are you shutting down ADT in a Zero Document State?

Richard:

Zero document state? That probably refers to the new Document Management function. And I'm probably doing so without knowing. Tell me more.

Thanks,

That refers to shutting down each drawing until AutoCAD is left with no (hence zero) documents open.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

But it's now moving them while I'm in the session.

Are you sharing menus across a network? Maybe someone else is recompiling the menus while you work.

I am having a small problem with ADT 2005. I open and arrange my toolbars just the way I want them, but when I close and restart the program, they have all moved to different locations! It's like ADT wants the toolbars placed where IT wants them and not where I want them! Is there any way to lock the toolbars in a given location?

Thanks,

This is probably a profile issue. I've seen this several times before.

When you start ADT either from the shortcut menu on the desktop or by double clicking on a file and opening ADT, the default setting is to load the ADT Imperial (unless you use metric) profile. If you've created or are using a different profile with your toolbars, you must edit your shortcut on your desktop.

To do this, right click on the shortcut. At the end of the string you will see a p followed by something in strings.

"C:\Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AecBase45.dbx" /p "Architectural Desktop - Imperial"

Leave the quotes (I've placed in bold) and replace with your profile.

Ask back if this doesn't help.

I'm using the "Architectrual Desktop-Imperial" profile and my desktop shortcut specifies it. No problem there. No network - no sharing. Also, shutting down ADT in a "zero document state" does not work either. Any other suggestions?

Mike PErry responded with the following to Custom Toolbars moving:

Hi

Check out the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

ID: TS66020 - Custom toolbars do not stay in docked position (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2887174&linkID=2475323)

Have a good one, Mike

The Knowledge base answer is that the toolbar locations are determined by the menu loading process. Only trouble with this answer is that for years now my toolbars have behaved the way I've wanted, without adjusting the .mnu file. Only in ADT 2005 do I now have the problem.

Can anyone make sense of this?

AUGI's:

I'm still stumped with the moving toolbars. They move to different locations sometimes when I open AutoCAD 2005. They seem to move during a session. This never happened in older versions.

Anyone else have an answer?

Thanks,

Jim Cronburg

Jim,

Please, place all menus where
you want them, and then EXPORT
that profile and send it to me to examine,
along with a copy of the one you believe
it is loading from your desktop icon.

I'm actually having this problem with ADT 2005. I looked over the solution on the Adesk website, but how do you change the order the menus and toolbars are loaded? Any help or solutions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
