Basically I want toilets and wash hand basins to appear in sections as well as plans - ie to be made from MODEL lines or imported DWG. (ie I want to see it even if it is not "cut" by my section, I want to do this without messing around with invisible lines/detail components.....) Do I really have to trace over these DWGS to make Revit do such a simple thing??

I am trying to update some of our families, plumbing fixtures mainly. If I import a dwg in and dont explode it, I cannot mirror the family once its in my models (ie with the mirror command) or it blows it into bits?? And for some bizzare reason I cant have an imported dwg in side and front views in my family then explode them, the side and front ones seem to dissapear when I explode them.... very frustating. Any ideas anyone?

You are doing something wrong I think. The side view works fine, though I think to make it so I had to switch to wireframe prior to exploding. The front view is still there (again try wireframe) but it is linked to the centreline of the wall for some reason so you can't see it in the standard view. Try placing the dwg differently, perhaps using locate manually....

check the current view only when importing the front/side elevations

Surely it is Revit that is doing something wrong - I can only import one way, as they always come in plan view for some reason, even if I alter the UCS in Autocad.......

Switching to wireframe should not affect exploding something, that doesnt make any sense.... but if it works, thanks for the tip I will give it a go!! - how on earth did you know to do that??

I have found another bug since with model lines, I cannot copy and paste them into a different plane in the side views, they will only copy and paste into the same plane....

Thanks for trying to help Scott, but its model lines that I want - so that the objects will appear in the distance in a section. - I have come up with a different solution all together - will post the results today :) Looks promising so far

Check to see whether the outlines in the dwg are constructed using Regions. If are, they they will dissapear when the dwg is exploded. Some people use regions in ACAD as a quick way to construct an obscuring surface.
