Hi,
i am building a family for a alum clad wood window. However when i add some ref. planes for my frame projection and frame depth the whole thing messes up. i try to flex it and it is off center and moves all over in the generic wall. any ideas on how to keep this baby centered on its center ref plane?

Usually by using "EQ" constraint dims from the side ref planes to the center ref plane. Can you post your family so we can take a look?

You also want to make sure that all of these new RefPlanes have been "controlled". In other words, these should have rules (parameters) assigned to them. If everything flexed just fine before these planes when in . . . and now the family bombs . . . it sounds like you have illegal collisions because some things are moving controllably and some aren't . . . and the ones that aren't moving with control are creating conditions that Revit doesn't understand.

Well i think i found it. I was locking a plane to the face of sheathing i put on the generic wall. I unlocked that then dimensioned a plane to the centerline then put a parameter on it for location within wall.
