I dunno why I'm helping you do this......

HPASSOC System Variable

Type: Integer
Saved in: Registry
Initial value: 1

Controls whether hatch patterns and gradient fills are associative.

0 Hatch patterns and gradient fills are not associated with their boundaries

1 Hatch patterns and gradient fills are associated with their boundaries and are updated when the boundaries change

Thank you for assisting.

This is in ver 2002? I see nothing on the help of the online autodesk support about HPASSOC...

it does not exist in my System Variable Editor.

Hi

System variable HPASSOC didn't arrive until AutoCAD 2004.

Give FixHatch from http://www.cadwerx.net/ a try.

Have a good one, Mike

I agree this seems backwards, but if the user is accustom to using the trim command to remove sub-areas from within a hatched area, the associative property on the hatch prevents a person from trimming out internal islands within the hatch pattern. The user must go through the hatch edit dialog and "add" polylines to remove internal areas.

I forget sometimes how much better AutoCAD has become over the years. No problem trimming associative hatches with more current versions. 2002 would be like working on an Etch-a-Sketch for me.
