I have a room that should be 9' 8" across with a 4' shower and a 5' tub. Between them there is a double 2x4 stud wall. The Diagram I have showes the wall at 8" but the walls in real life can only be 7" combined because the 2x4 is actually 3.5" wide. This will throw the actual building off because the shower or tub will be off by an inch depending on which wall they pull the wall from. The interior wall runs the full length of the house and will mess up the placement of toilets, vanities and closets. I held that as an option to move the wall but that would not be possible. The fiberglass tub and Shower is made to the exact specification stated on the drawing. Then the tub or shower does not fit in between the walls or has gaps. Any Solutions?

Can't you use the correct size wall? Just create a new wall to be the 7" double 2x4 wall. Maybe I am missing something?

5'-0" Stud/1" Air Gap/Stud 4'-0"
Stud>|| Tub || | | || Shower ||<Stud
5'-0"+3 1/2"+1"+3.5"+4''-0"=9'-8"
That what we're talking about?

First, is this a Revit related problem/question? If so, I'm assuming you modeled your building, and now are trying to fit a family of a tub and shower into your model. The Double 2x4 stud wall between the shower and tub could have been correctly modeled in Revit as two - 3 1/2 wood studs, with 5/8" of Gyp board (or backer board, or green board) on both sides, which would make the actual wall thickness 7" plus 1 1/4" for a total of 8 1/4" So your original model had a wall of 8", which is actually too small, not too big. i really think the 1/4" difference should not cause problems in construction, but if you want to avoid these problems, make sure you are modeling the components and the walls correctly.

This the general idea. that I was looking for. I fould this querk in the plan when my boss gave a hand drawn copy of the plan and told me to put it on architectural desktop 2005. He left and I haven't seen him since to ask him the question.

So is this an Arch Desktop question? If so, we should move it to the right forum. JCUDE, please be sure to post new messages under the right subjects.

Ah. ADT. Explains everything. ;-)

The problem wasn't with ADT. The problem was that the guys out in the field that were actually building the room were cracking the tub or shower because they were forcing it to spread an extra inch past the inch it was made to fit in. They asked me to change the plan and plot it so they would have it correct in the field. This was my problem.
