View Full Version : Changing parameters of a profile

Hi all

I have used Metric Profile and have created a parametric fascia for a standing seam room to show the profile and hidden gutter.

The parameters are simple, length, depth of facia etc etc.

I load the profile into my project and I duplicate any fascia, rename it and ensure that it is using my parametric profile.

All is working fine.

The only problem is that if I want to change any of the parameters of the fascia I cannot just click on the fascia, right click and properties as the parameters do not show up.

Instead I have to use the project browser - move down to families > profiles > then select my parametric profile click the + tab and change the properties there. All the parameters show up here but I would Ideally like them to show up just by selecting the fascia.

I have tried making the parameters by Type and by instance but it makes no difference.

Is this the only way to change the parameters or am I missing something.

Many Thanks and Happy New Year.

Dave

REVIT is behaving properly and there is no way to do what you are asking. the issue is that the fascia is being created by looking at the profile, so to change anything about the fascia profile, you need to change the profile. This is the same behaviour for any object that uses a profile. The fascia is being drive by an outside source so you can't get the fascia to change the profile.

Good answer

I kinda thought thats was the case but as usual was hoping for that little bit of Revit magic or knowhow that could solve my problem.

Many thanks
