This is probably so simple and basic that I am just over thinking it. Can you bring a Wall Type from one project to another?

It seems so basic that I can't find an answer in the Revit Help.

IE: All Interior Walls on the Residential Template are made w/ Wood Stud components, and all Interior Walls on the Commercial Template are made w/ Mtl Stud components? Can you quickly bring one in to the other, or must you create Wall Types specifically in that Template or Project file?

My guess is that you cannot, and all Walls are created in the template, or duplicated/edited from what is there.

Thanks,

Hey there,

The quick way is to simply copy and paste a wall from one project into another. The other way is (if I remember correctly) use "transfer project standards" and de-select all choices, then select "Wall Types" or Types, can't remember...

Good Luck

SCShell is correct, Transfer Project Stanadards will work too. You can copy paste from the project browser (all family types, not just walls), however you need to use Cntrl+C and Cntrl+V when C/P from the project browser. This is very handy for quickly capturing system families that sometimes people delete or purge without thinking. It is quicker than Transfer Project Standards if you just need a few families or types.

Thanks, those both work great. Wish that Help had a link from "Walls" to Transfer Project Stds.
