View Full Version : Cannot copy objects from original AutoCAD 2007 DWG when saved in 2004 format

To better explain, I created a drawing (one.dwg) in 2007, saved it back to 2004, then opened it in 2006. But when I try to copy an object from (one.dwg) to (two.dwg) it doesn't let me. It copies it fine, at least it looks like it does, but when I paste, nothing happens. Ive made sure, my current layer is on, and the objects layer from (one.dwg) is unlocked.

Anyone got any suggestions?

thanks

Yes there are lots of problems like this when opening dwg's created in 2007 in earlier releases, you will probably find that certain commands also don't work.

Take a look at the Autodesk website and download the object enablers for your 2006 release, this should go a long way to solving your problem.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,

Steve

Hmmmm, well Autodesks' website doesnt offer object enablers for 2007>2006. 2006 is the highest it goes at the moment.

Check out the two links in this post. It may answer your questions on which enabler to use.

thanksHave you installed this hotfix (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=7450124&linkID=2475161)?

If you open or create a file in AutoCAD 2007 and save it in AutoCAD 2000 or AutoCAD Release 14 file formats and then open the drawing in AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, 2002 or AutoCAD Release 14 and attempt to cut and paste, copy and paste, block and insert, wblock and insert, or drag and drop objects, then these operations will fail.Once the hotfix is installed, drawings that are subsequently saved in AutoCAD 2000 and AutoCAD Release 14 formats will work as expected. However, drawings that were previously saved in these formats from AutoCAD 2007 will continue to have the problem unless they are resaved with the hotfix applied. The 2000 from 2007 Find Utility below can be used to help identify those drawings. If you have a large number of drawings that need to be resaved, DWG TrueConvert (http://www.autodesk.com/dwgtrueconvert) is a free utility that will make the job easier. Make sure you apply the hotfix to DWG TrueConvert before resaving the drawings.

The link for the hot fix isn't working. Can you put it back?
