what symbol is used to depict a dimension that is not shown accurately? le' me splane... within your drawing you have a dimension to a point that, because of the scale, can not be accurately shown on the sheet... kind of like a break in a line... there is a symbol placed by the dimension value represents that... any ideas? or what is the proper way to show this?
thanks all
You could make a second viewport showing the other end of the dimension and its' associated objects. You could then place a few break line symbols in your layout over the dimension line and associated objects.

Or do as above using break marks to split the drawing into two viewports, then put a dimension in paperspace (layout tab) and override the dimension value.

There is a "draw a break-line symbol" in the Express Tools.
