We have finished working on the schematic design of a site intensive project - Revit worked great - but would now like to start adding lines and fill patterns to the site plan, now composed of topo objects with sub-regions. Only problem is that you cannot apply surface patterns to topo objects - "Topographical surfaces do not support surface patterns. The surface pattern associated with this material will not be displayed on the indicated surface." is what you get.

So, what have y'all done to work this out? Filled regions do not "play well with others" seemingly - any ideas?

Thanks,

Well, we figured out that you use topo for what it's good for, and start laying in floors, pads, etc as needed, model lines for joints, etc. Sort of "model it like you build it"

that is what i have started doing (using floors). no not too complex sites it works farily well, but as soon as things start sloping too much, floors become a problem.

Not that it helps for surface patterns, but we have been using shaded views for colours and it works pretty good in a presentation sense.
