g'day all

I'm looking for some info on the command line input in 2007. I've noticed that when entering some commands are no longer valid, like typing in a line length and angle (surveyor's units). I've also noticed that i can no longer arrow up to some of the previous command line inputs. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

thanks

How are you typing it in? Mine works like this example........
@150.12<n75d10'44"e

As far as the command line, there is a command to type in to let you scroll through previous command, but I can't remember it right now. I'll find it though...........

Is the drawing set to surveyor's units? You can check under the UNITS command.

My guess would be you have dynamic input on? This is from the help file regarding dynamic input:
<snip>
When pointer input is on and a command is active, the location of the crosshairs is displayed as coordinates in a tooltip near the cursor. You can enter coordinate values in the tooltip instead of on the command line.

The default for second and subsequent points is relative polar coordinates (relative Cartesian for RECTANG). There is no need to type the at sign (@). If you want to use absolute coordinates, use the pound sign (#) prefix. For example, to move an object to the origin, for the second point prompt, enter #0,0.
<snip>

As far as the up arrow/down arrow through the commands, I haven't noticed the same issue, so I cannot comment.

I can't find where I saw the command line scroll input. I know I did it to my machine a few weeks ago and it worked. Hopefully, someone here will know what I'm talking about and help you out. Sorry!

okay Brenda... Something's weird here... I've been trying to do this for ever and couldn't get it to work... i changed my dynamic input setting... got out to the command prompt to do some testing... and it still didn't work... so i shut off Polar Tracking... and wouldn't you know it, it started working... then i changed the dynamic input back to it's original setting... it still works, with or without dynamic input... so, i turned Polar Tracking back on, and it still works...

go figure... well, thanks for all of your suggestions... we'll see how long this lasts...

Maybe...

ID: TS1052692 - Recent input command does not recall previous numerical input (http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1052692)

Have a good one, Mike

Is the drawing set to surveyor's units?

A popular myth, but not true.
Your drawing does not have to be set to "surveyor's units" in order to input polar coordinates such as @344.10<n64d18'23"e

Thanks for the information. I've never tried it until now.

I am having this same issue (unable to scroll to previous commands w/ up arrow). The link below goes to a blank page. Were you all able to remedy this issue?

That happens when a direct link is posted like that.

Try this: http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1052692

Of course, wouldn't it have been easier to just post the solution here? :-) See below.

Issue
You tried to use the Recent Input shortcut menu item and the UP ARROW key at the command line, but you were not able to recall numerical values input in previous commands.

Solution
This is a change in behavior between the AutoCADĀ® 2005 and 2006 releases.
To return to the AutoCADĀ® 2005 behavior, set the AutoCAD system variable INPUTHISTORYMODE to 0.

[ SNIP ] The link below goes to a blank page. [ SNIP ]Hi

Try the link again, I have just updated it.

Plus the following might help explain one or two things about linking to the Autodesk web site...

RE: AutoCAD 2006 create custom linetypes with filled dots

Do you like to link? (http://augi.typepad.com/augi_news/2007/04/do_you_like_to_.html)

Have a good one, Mike

ps Just for future reference, you can always search the Autodesk web site (http://www.autodesk.com/search) for document numbers eg

Search by keywords or phrases: TS1052692

Have you tried F2 for your command line history?
