Is there a way to align the center of a wall to a grid line? Say i have something like a six inch stud wall with a 4 inch brick veneer and i would like to align to the center of the stud. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

If the stud is the core (and in this case it can be the only component in the core) then you can align to the center of the core... otherwise you'll need to align it to another edge (you can choose the edge of the stud) and then move it as necessary. If you then dimension and lock this edge to the grid line it will move when/if the grid moves.

In situations such as these I normally create a detail line and place the line (in your case) over the stud... Then align to the line you've just created...quick little fix...

Thanks for the replies. I forgot that the alignment tool gives you options to align to the center of core under the prefer drop down, which does what I wanted it to do.

Regardless of preferences, you can find the core centerline by tabbing on the wall until the dashed core location indicator shows up.

True, you can use the 'Tab' key to locate an object in a group, makes for easy selection! 8)
