Our company has just made the jump to ABS 2007.1. When using standard commands such as line, arc, move, copy, etc. We are seeing that the electrical connector snap is staying active which is very annoying. In the past versions (ABS 2004 & 2005) the electrical connector snap only became active when inserting an electrical device or adding wire.
Does anyone have a fix for this besides just turning off the ABS snaps. I don't won't to toggle it on and off all day. And if I leave it off then I can't add wire.
Thanks,

Thanks,Hi Greg,
This is probably not the answer you want to hear but I haven't found an easy workaround to this issue either. :(
Although your question has prompted me into researching setting up a temporary override key to turn off/on ABS connector snaps. I'll look into it tomorrow when I get to work and let you know what I come up with.

I have asked Autodesk if there was some sort of F-key (like F7 for osnaps) to quickly toggle the ABS snaps on/off without having to go into the Options settings. Their reply was no. I asked them to put it on the wish-list since I feel it would be exceptionally helpful. Perhaps if others of you out there feel it would be helpful as well please tell Autodesk.
Have a good morning.

When you turn on ABS snaps, they remain on until you turn them off. If ABS snaps are off when you use an Add command, the related ABS snap is turned on only for the Add command. For example, if all ABS snaps are off and you start the Schematic Pipe Add command, the Pipe Curve and Pipe Connector snaps are turned on. Once you exit the Schematic Pipe Add command, the Pipe Curve and Pipe Connector snaps are turned off.
TIP:You can also enter the following ABS snaps on the command line, which can be helpful if you miss a connector during object selection: SCON (Schematic Connector), DCON (Duct Connector), PCON (Pipe Connector), ECON (Electrical Connector), WCON (Wire Way Connector), SCUR (Schematic Curve), DCUR (Duct Curve), PCUR (Pipe Curve), ECUR (Electrical Curve), and WCUR (Wire Way Curve).
.
I found this in the ABS help section. According to this, you should be able to have ABS snaps turned off and the appropriate snap will come on when using the add command. I tried this and couldn't get it to work but if it would I think it would be what you and I are looking to accomplish.

Are you saying that this help section is wrong? If so have you submitted this "Bug" to Adesk? If this is something that they are saying should work and it dosen't, they should fix it. It's amazing what you can find in that help menu.

Hi David,
I tried it and couldn't get it to work. I don't like being made a fool of so I intend to do further tests to confirm it doesn't work before I send anything to Autodesk.
I hate going to an Architect/Engineer and telling them they missed something only to have them say "Did you look here" and point to the information I was looking for on the prints. (Usually the prints taunt me at this point) For this reason I tend to check and recheck things before I ask for clarification.

Thanks for the help so far. One of my coworkers has discovered a fix. Its also on the Autodesk Discussion Group website http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?threadID=403600
There is a system variable for ABS snaps its "AECBOSMODE". Just add up the numbers accordingly. A lisp routing could be written that would remember your previous setting and toggle it on and off. This is a fix but not a solution. I would like for it to be like ABS 2005 where ABS snaps were transparent to non-ABS commands. By the way I couldn't find this variable in the help menu.
