Hi all,

Well I have a question I hope you can help me answer. In the attached PDF I am showing a wall condition I do not know how to fix. It is a stacked wall with a sweep on the bottom portion of the wall and the sweep will not connect at this location. It may be due to how I made the inset area, which I am not sure is the right way either. The front wall with the windows is a single wall with an opening through it and additional walls making up the recessed area. Should I make the front wall 2 separate walls with a wall between them with a base offset for the center part? This way solves the sweep join problem but I am not sure which was is the CORRECT way. I am using the demo to convince my company to buy Revit and find this is the last issue I am having with this facility. Any help is appreciated.

Can you select the inset wall in a 3D or an elevation view, then use the grip that appears on the sweep to pull it into alignment with the other sweep? Also experiment with the change sweep returns (going from memory here) that appears in the options bar when you select that wall.

Yup. if you do a "Change Sweep Return" it should turn the sweep so that the end turns the 90 degrees. Also, in the 3d views, you should have blue grips on the ends of the sweep. It will let you grab the end of the sweep and drag it well past the end of the wall, so it joins with the sweep on the outermost wall. I have a similar condition all over our model. It works great like this.

Hope this helps!

Some times there are different ways to do the same thing, in your case, it is fine the way you did it, to get the sweep to return at the opening, go to the 3D view you show on the PDF, then select one of the walls that has the sweep, then on the options bar you will see an option "Change sweep returns" select it, then click at the end of the sweep and it will turn the sweep 90 degrees, the you just grab the blue grip to extend the sweep until reaches the other sweep, and that is it!!!

I don't even think you have to change the sweep returns. If you just grab the blue grip on the one that's too short and drag it to the corner, and make sure the grips on both sweeps overlap at the exact same point, it should miter automatically.

Got it fixed with the suggestions. Thanks for all the help. Now I can press on to have my company make the purchase. There is so much to learn in this program and trying to do it without any training is exciting to say the least. Have a good one.
