View Full Version : Correctly Splitting up Floor Plans

Okay first of all I am doing a 2D to 3D conversion - FYI. I also have a workaround for this that is working, but I want to see if a correct way of doing this exist. The building is a 16 story Hotel with a 12 story parking deck that is built into the building (making the elevations of each floor plan vary).

I have a project that has various elevations for each floor plan, so splitting everything up based on view depths is not a realistic solution. I started the project like this, but when modeling in 2D stuff was getting screwy.

My current work around is to create phases for each floor plan (basement, 1 Level, 2 Level, etc). Then for the Floor Plan view I will assign it to show what is new in that phase. Works great, but if I want to do phasing with this building inside of revit it is nothing going to happen.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make the correct stuff show up on a floor plan and not base it on the elevation?

I am not entirely sure of what you mean, but usually the answer for anything complicated is worksets. Or you could link files. Have you tried either of these options?

Worksets is something that I was planning on trying next.

How about Plan Regions? They will allow you to show different elevations on the same level.

Thanks. I don't think they will work for what I am trying to achieve, but I am going to play with them some more and see what I can do with them.
