I have read numerous posts about visibility parameters but am still at a loss as to how to make a parameter that is either yes/no or on/off in which I can control certain items in a families visibility: casement swing rt or left and mutins on or off when mutins are on toggling their look craftsman look and/or colonial.
I modified Anderson Windows and added light and vent parameters that will get me info for a light vent schedule that I do not have working in one schedule. I have also modified my window tags to the window's model info to place my window sizes on plan versus just a window number. I have attached an example of this modified window thusfar.
I am told there is a tutorial on Visibility Parameters and spent an hour looking thru the Tutorial files but could not find them.

Try this:
Open your family.
Go to Family Types dialog box.
Under Parameters - Select Add
In the parameter dialog select yes/no as the type, then name the parameter & pick a group to place it in. Then select whether you want it to be an instance or type parameter.Select OK to finish. Select OK to close the family type dialog.
In the model, select the items whose visibility you want to control with this parameter, the go to properties.
In the properties dialog, under the visible parameter, push the radio button at the far right. Select your parameter from the new dialog.
Select OK again.
Load the family into a project & insert it. Select it, go to properties, and try toggling your new parameter.

Hth (Andrewg),
Your the man. This is completely awesome. I have toggles now for swing (rt/left/none) and the mutin pattern (on or off). Since this window is small it can only accomodate one set of mutins but I will try different mutin patterns for larger windows. See attached for the settings within the properties window and the example if you so choose, but it works great.
Thanks, Danka, Gracias - your tha manas!!!!

I got real far w/ Andrewg's direction and used it on a DH window w tons of mutin, sill, lintel, and interior and exterior window frame (yes/no controls) as well as light vent info and window tag information on the Anderson template but can not get the lower 12/12 mutin pattern to work at the smallest window size in the family. I realize that I would not use the mutin pattern on that window size however it locks up my family upon insertion. While I would do some things differently, I am pretty happy with the result. And would like to finish this window. HELP
