After attending AU, I have been very excited about C3D and where it is (and can) go.

I would like to see Autodesk add stormwater calculations to C3D, maybe as an add-on since this would be a very large part of C3D.

I can imagine setting up the design storm and watching the model go. Watch the water flow from lots to the curb and gutter, then through the storm drainage system and to a detention pond. This may require the acquisition of an already proven stormwater calculation model (i.e., ICPR) but the result would be an amazing design tool. Areas that do not drain could be identified in the model ever better and these areas could be addressed. Stormwater calculations could coincide with (from this example) the design of a subdivision.

However, the water drop function does not work the way that we have envisioned it working from the beginning, but C3D is going in the right direction.

Just a wish of mine.

Basic hydrologic modeling shouldn't be too difficult to program, but where ADESK is running into problems is, what program(s) to be able to interact with? In areas of California, you can ONLY use a model based on WSPG (an L.A. County requirement and developed by the county) other areas will only accept HECRAS, and other areas of just the US have even more program requirements. Then, you need to look at what they require in the rest of the world for their models. You can see it would be an unending task to attempt to get even half of these into the next release.
Granted, I think some form of stormwater modeling needs to be included, but where to start? WMS? WSPG? HECRAS?

Totally agree with this. I wish ACAD had partnered with Haestad Methods because those modeling packages are very powerful and used extensively in Civil Engineering.

There are still other packages they could incorporate that compete but Haestad covered so many areas of Civil design.

Bentley made a coup on that one.
