I have a designer here that needs to load the standard material library palettes into AutoCAD 2007. I know this is an option when loading the software for the first time. The software is already on the machine and has been for some time. The installation disc we have is an upgrade disc from AutoCAD 2006. Does anyone know of a way to install the AutoCAD materials without doing a reinstall of the entire program?

Thanks!

The ACAD 07 Materials Folder called ''Textures" may already be somewhere on your harddrive. 1st, on Windows Explorer, go to Tools>Folder Options>View Tab> & make sure "Show Hidden Files & Folders" is checked & "Hide extentions for known file types" is unchecked. Then, use the Search Function to look for this file as an example, which should be in the ''Textures" Folder: "Finishes.Masonry Flooring.Slate.1.jpg". If Search does not yield a file with this name, you do not have the Materials Folder installed. If it does, take note of the path & make sure the path is the same in the ACAD Options Dialog Box>Files Tab>Textures Maps Search Path.

Hi

Additionally the following may offer some help...

ID: TS1055980 - Material Palettes do not show up in the list of options for the Tool Palettes (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=7313091&linkID=2475323)

Have a good one, Mike

I know this is an old topic, but I have a related problem and after searching the forums, this posting is the closest I came to finding anything.
It's been awhile since I've done any 3D work and I don't remember how to access the material library with all the pre-defined materials. I have the material palette open that shows the materials used in the drawing (currently empty). I checked the tool palette paths and found the desired material files on my hard drive but I can't figure out how to access them from inside AutoCAD.
The help file was no help. It just says the library exists. It doesn't say how to access it.
I feel like this is a dumb question, but I can think of no other recourse, but to ask it.
Any help is appreciated.

IIRC, the actual material files were not installed by default in A2007. A repair/modify operation would allow you to add them.

Alright, I'll check that out. Thanks.
