View Full Version : Switching in RCP?

What is the best method for doing an RCP that shows both the lighting in the ceiling and the switches on the walls? Preferably not the 2D drafted approach that is so easy to fall back on. Is there a way to just change the RCP to show switches, even if the switch is actually below the cut plane?

Thanks,
Gordon

Worst case - you could create the rcp view as you want, and create a separate plan view showing only electrical fixtures, and then overlap the two views on the sheet.

If in your RCP you turn on an underalay of your floor plan you can use the LineWork tool (LW) (looks like a fountain pen) to make objects visible in the floor plan visible in your RCP. In this case you are actually using the LW tool to overide Revit's view settings. You're actually telling Revit to make an object visible that otherwise wouldn't typically be visible in the particular view. Because you're actually linking to the real object, the object will remain visible even if it moves etc.

Simplest way is to put the cut plane Offset right below the switch level in the view range under view properties of the RCP. It will show the door swing too, which I usually find helpful in placement of light switches. I'm assuming you're using a standard 4'-0" +/- installation height for switches. You can also install the switches on the RCP plan this way. If you don't want the doors to show, simply turn that object style off for the RCP.
