how does one built kerbs and pavings on a graded topography that follows the landscape?

I have a little chuckle to myself every time someone brings this up, because you have picked on one of revit's big downfalls - the site tools. Basically you create kerbs, roads and pavings with great difficulty, if at all.
Eldados had a cool little tutorial that is somewhere on here... something to do with cutting out a piece of the topo, exporting to CAD and giving it a depth there before importing it back into Revit. Only problem with that tho is that it approximates the gradient by triangulating it, and you see all the edges in plan, section and elevation!
Anyone else willing to share how they get over this little problem?
