I have a two storey construction, and when i am on the first floor plan i can see the outline of some of the lower walls, i don't want this to happen, so is there a way i can prevent this?
might i add that the walls which are visible are attached to the base of a verandah slab, so they are higher than the rest of the walls.

It sounds to me you need to set some plan regions over the walls that are showing.
If that is the case then you do that by selecting Plan Region in the View Tab in the Options Bar, Sketching the area that the region is to cover and setting the view range in the plan region properties.
The concept is you are adjusting the clip plane and viewing depth for this area that you sketch. So in this case, you do not want to be able to see as far down as you are currently doing so you want to lift up the bottom of the view range.
In the view range dialogue that comes up there is a help tab, in here is a reasonably extensive explanation of View Range.
Hope this helps.

You'll also want to check your view properties tab on the second story that you don't have the floor below selected as an underlay. This would cause your view problem as well.
