I have created pdf plot jobs that I have been using for marketing purposes. I am not in a position in the sales process to insist that my prospects download dwf viewer software however they all have some kind of pdf viewer software.

Is there a way to nock the file sizes down and still see hatching, etc. My 4 page D size sets of pdfs are 3.5 mb and my single E1 size pdfs average 700k typically but can get as large as 1.3 mb. I would love to reduce that file size down. I typically find that if I use resolutions less than 300 dpi I begin to loose things. I find that hatching (roof, etc) seems to drop out below 144 dpi. Any thoughts or settings. I use a number of different PDF products. PDF995 is my favorite but I still use Adobe Acrobat 4.0 for some rotation etc and inserting sheets in sets etc.

Is there any good PDF compression software out there? I have Acroplot for Autocad but I can not see it within Revit for reduced file size. I have spent lots of time reviewing forum posts about PDF. Alot of the posts deal with what pdf software to use, and how to set up pdf software for batch plotting but have not found a post that strictly deals with downsizing and reducing pdf file sizes. HELP.

PDF is compressed. About all you can do is adjust the DPI. Raster images will be larger files than vector - so make sure you don't print raster from Revit unless you have too. If you are printing vector - you should be able to reduce the DPI without affecting the image quality.

Hi there,

Within adobe acrobat pro there is an option to 'reduce file size' (under the 'file' drop down menu).

i find this works well, but may be an expensive solution for you....
