I know this is probably dumb question and I should know the answer to it, but I'll ask it anyway. When I create a multi line polyline how come when I UCS object it ucs's to the angle of the starting line?

Try UCS, E for entity. AutoCAD will choose the nearest vertex from th epoint selected.

What do you mean by "UCS"ing an object??

The option within the ucs toolbar where it allows you to change your ucs to that of the given direction of an object within a drawing. Which allows you to draft along the same angle as said object.

To create a UCS other than world, type UCS, then E for entity. the new UCS will align it's positive x-axis to the object selected.

Technically, one should type "OB" for object. "E" for entity is a hangover and could be programmed out in future releases.
Just FYI.
