Working on an electrical plan placing light fixtures. Put in light fixtures in a room and went to the section and noticed my ceiling was 5" lower than it should of been. Moved ceiling up 5" and light fixtures disappeared. Moved top view plane up and light fixtures show back up. Everything is good. Go to place more light fixtures and it cant find a ceiling. I can copy light fixture but not place one on a ceiling. Is this a bug, I know that I have run into this before. I can also go to a 3d view and place them, just not in plan view. Tried to put plan as an underlay but that didnt work either. Does anyone else have this problem?

When i place light fixtures in ceilings I do this in a RCP view. After I get it all in there I then go back to my electrical plan and move and adjust from there.

Glad you got it. I to wish I could just work from my electrical view though. I've tried adjusting my view settings to show ceiling etc. I gave up and just do it as I previously mentioned. I've never tried since, so maybe it can be done. If it can, I'm sure someone will chime in and give us the in and out's. But it's not to big of deal to do it in my RCP.

I am attempting this as yet I am unsuccessful. I am facing a deadline so if all else fails I will export to ADT for the electrical though my hope is this current project will be 100% Revit. I know the tools are there I just am not using them properly.

Put all your lighting on the ceiling plan. Go back to your electrical plan and use the ceiling plan as an underlay. This will be grayed but then could use the cutplane or plan regions at the fixtures. Then take off the underlay when finihsed.

In residential work, we often show a combination Electrical & RCP plan. I typically just overlay the two views on the sheet... use TAB to pick which view I want to activate and work this way... (tip place the RCP first, then place the Elec. plan using the green alignment lines, override floors to be transparent) Works great !
