View Full Version : Stair Tag

I like the stair tag annotation which lists the number of risers and their height from one level to the next, but we tag our stair sections from floor to landing and landing to the next level. I simply add text to these section dimensions to achieve this but it's obviously not tied to any changes made to the stair later on.

Has anyone created a stair tag that will define the number of risers from starting level to landing or landing to ending level?

Thanks.

Hi DG,

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to do this.

Cheers,

Yeah, the only way to create a tag is to be able to read the info. I don't beleive that we can read the tread/riser count from a stair (sure would be nice though...). You could create a shared parameter that you manually update, which could then be used to populate the tag. At least then your tagging would always be consistent, and it would just be a matter of changing the stair. Though if you're like us, we used to typically use a dimension string to define the overall extent of the stair, then add the riser info instead of a measurement.

I've been looking for a good way to do this as well, but what I ended up doing was creating a tag that only reports riser height and then manually typing in the risers per run. I was thinking about adding a shared parameter for that, but you'd need multiple parameters and multiple tags if you have uneven runs.

That's a good idea, Chris. I'll make a tag that reports riser height with a text parameter to enter the number of risers. Thanks.
