I've got a question about how doors are scheduled. In my project I'm using a hollow metal door with frame. When the door is scheduled it shows up as 3'-4" wide, which include the door and frame. I would prefer to schedule just the door as 3'-0". I have a Frame Type column where I refer to the frame size, etc... What parameters would I need to change to get this to happen? The same thing occurs where I have a Pair of 3'-0" doors. It reads 6'-4".

I'm also curious how other people are handleing their door schedules?

Thanks,

The doors we use show the correct size (not including the jambs) If you are using the common flush doors that come with Revit you shouldn't have that problem...the doors from revit show the opening of the door, but doesn't show graphically the jamb. I made my own family which shows the door opening and graphically shows the jamb on both sides.

which door are you using?

I'm using a door which graphically shows both the jambs and the door. I believe I got the doors off the Rugi website, but I could be mistaken. I've attached the door.

Thanks for your help.

This has always bugged me, the double doors report 6'-0"w x ... when you really need it to say 2-3'-0"X... So what I have started doing is creating a shared parameter file with Panel Width and Panel Height parameters, I then use these in the schedule. The only problem is you have to edit every door family you use. But when you get into doors with transoms and sidelites you just can't get around the width and height problem. So use the stock width and height as the nominal opng. dims.

For this problem i think for 2 solutions:
1) you have to add to the family a shared parameter (example called NetDim) and assoc a formula like this ---->With - 0' 4"<---- the 0' 4" value is the double jamb with.
After do so you have to define a new door label with the shared parameter instead the default With parameter.
2) or you can redefine the door family (better solution) if you open it you can see the with parameter that refer to the external of jamb, i redefine it and i try to attach my solution.
But i do it with Revit 6.1 if you need an early version i habe also the 5.1

(many times when i download a family from web the next step is to restyle the object)

YES!!! Everyone take note, don't necessarily expect things to work just the way you need them, be prepared to make them work for you and make them consistent for your needs!!

And then share the result based upon your consistency!!
