How many people out there are still using their AU2005 Laptop Backpack?
I thought it was a great backpack and I used it from the day I got it until the side ripped out about a month ago.
So my backpack Odyssey began. I searched and searched for this backpack or for one that was close to this backpack, or maybe even the manufacturer of the backpack.
No Luck.
I emailed Autodesk and the response was that "there are none available and it was made exclusively for AU by a company in China."
I know there are other ones out there but I got used to the backpack and Autodesk was getting the Advertisement on the bag.
Every time I thought I found a close match something was missing like: its a backpack that has no wheels, or it has wheels but its not a backpack, or its perfect but it does not fit a 17" laptop.
Long story!
I ended up choosing the AXIO Hybrid backpack. It is about the same size as the AU bag but without the wheels. I guess I only really used the wheels in the airport anyway. If you are in the market for a 17" laptop bag, check out the AXIO bags, a bit on the expensive side but extremely well made.
Does anyone else have a similar story or am I the only insane backpack toter? file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/mnisbett/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg

Yep, that was a very nice bag. Mine just sits in the closet though. I may be persuaded to part with my 2005 AU laptop backpack...??? Then again, I am pretty much a pack-rat so...I doubt it. Some day I'll use it, you know.
I think the 2003 wheelie laptop case was even better.

Does it have to have wheels?

I really, really love my laptop backback from Crumpler bags: www.crumplerbags.com

Warning: there site is weird. Don't let that throw you. Lots of high-end camera shops carry their stuff if you want to look at it.

Mike,
I missed that one, I wished I had seen it earlier. I could have saved some bucks.
Another bag I thought was cool was the bumbakpack. Check it out.

I am looking to get a new backpack myself.
Thanks for the ideas.
The one from mozilla looks great.
I have been looking to get a new laptop with a
17" screen. Anything that will fit that would work
best for me. Suggestions?

http://bbpbags.com/ That is sort of cool design (and, I do LOVE pink, but, I might have to go with RED to match my new RazR phone ;) It's shiny)

Yes, it is a BIG problem finding a decent bag for a 17 inch monitor. ~pouting~ I hope the firefox bag is in stock soon.

I'm currently using my AU2001 bag, but, the laptop is about 3" too wide to make it a good fit (I am not quite as crazy about the bags with the wheels unless I am in the airport and wouldn't want to carry it, for day to day use, the metal bars in the back just bother me, even if they are padded well.. REALLY well-made bags though, I've beat all of mine all to heck and they're still going strong... the '01 bag especially, college, work and travelling).

Anyone know if the Firefox Ogio bag will fit a Dell Precision M90 (17" model)? The description says "most 17 inch laptops"... but these things vary quiet a bit in size.

Thanks!

The good lady wife owns a Dell Inspiron E1705 and is also now the very! proud owner of the Firefox Ogio Messenger Bag (http://store.mozilla.org/product.php?code=MZ34014).

All I can tell you is - the Dell Inspiron E1705 fits nicely into the Firefox Ogio Messenger Bag (http://store.mozilla.org/product.php?code=MZ34014), plus it is a seriously well made / practical bag.

Have a good one, Mike

Great... the two laptops share the same dimensions! I'm glad to hear that you are impressed with the bag - placing my order now!

Thanks for the help.

No worries...

Please post back once you receive the bag... good or bad... fingers-crossed you will be as pleased with the bag as my good lady wife (and myself) is.

Have a good one, Mike

My Firefox bag (Ogio Hip Hop bag) arrived. Overall, the bag appears to be constructed extremely well with LOTS of pockets and compartments. The laptop area seems to be padded decently enough. My laptop (Dell Precision M90 17") fits very very snug - in fact, probably a little too tight for my liking. A smaller 17" model or 15" would be perfect for this bag. With the laptop in the bag it's pretty much stretched out and makes a tight fit for anything else I want to put into the bag. It also doesn't help things that the power supply for the Precision M90 is about the size of the laptop itself... it's a real beast!

I really really like the appearance of the bag - it's an attention getter. I will probably try out the bag a little longer to decide if I want to keep using as a laptop bag. I've also got a RoadWired Skooba Seventeen Plus bag that works a lot better... more room for the laptop and more pockets. It's a really well built bag with great laptop protection. However, you will pay for it... $120 compared to the $60 for the Firefox bag.

In the end, even if I decide to go with the RoadWired bad for my laptop I'm still keeping the Firefox bag - it's that cool!
