View Full Version : floor pattern under content

I know that this issue has been discussed somewhat. I would like to go over it one more time with anyone that can give any advice.

When creating content, such as toilets, casework, tables, etc, i understand that it is best to turn off the 3d componants in plan and use symbolic lines. The issue then becomes that things like floor patterns show thru the components. So you need to have a filled region component to add in the family so the floor doesn't show thru.

After you do all this it will show just as the 3d piece would have. is it really worth the effort to add the filled region? do you get lot of performance benefits out of turning the 3d components off?

The reason that i ask is that until now we have been doing smaller jobs, where i have not noticed too much slow down. We have some larger project coming online and i want to try to iron out some bugs and performance hogs before it is crunch time.

Thanks

Justin

Thanks of the input Aaron. This kind of answer my question, but i would like to know how much faster does it make the project? I dont want toa have to create all this extra content and effort if it only marginally increases performance. if it save 5 minutes a day then i dont think it is work the effort.

Anyone have any thoughts, or bench marks of past experience to share?

Thanks

Justin
