plotting to file is our office standard. (archiving and consistency of plots)

we are using HP755CM (as advised by our print shop) to create a plot file that can be printed to our in-house HP800 or the print shops OCE' printers. for the inhouse we use 'goverts go-plot'; for the print shop we use 'oce repro desk' to send the files to the plotters/printers.

works great in autocad.

tried to print to file from revit. got a very screwed up plot with mystery lines everywhere, hatches not correct and huge solid black areas. this happened regardless of the file being saved as either a *.prn or a *.plt... i didn't let the *.plt run as long as the *.prn to save on the ink with the big solid black areas, but as far as i can tell the errors are consistent.

Use Raster instead of Vector to correct some line issues, as well as text that "shifts" position.

big black areas....hmmm. Did you use a White Solid Filled Region in your drawings to "white out" areas? If so, you need to change these to a Filled Region that uses "No Pattern" instead of Solid White.

i'm using raster instead of vector; rastor quality is 'high'; and colors are set to grayscale.

i've not used any solid fills at this point.

we're pretty early on in the process and this is a sheet that shows a couple of perspectives and an overall front elevation, all with shadows on (presentation stuff).

the big black areas are not hatches. they are huge bands of black where the printer just printed constantly.

it prints fine if i don't print to file but as i said... printing to file is the office standard.

I vaguely remember running into similar problems when starting with revit about 9 months ago. The plotter service contacted autodesk directly and they were told to update their plotter drivers/software to the most current version (oce). We did the same for our in-house plotters (hp). Since then everything has been working fine.

Oooooh. Is that what causes our filled regions to export in to ArchiacCAD as solid green squares? LOL...
