Guys,
Can you assist.
I am doing something wrong with my blocks though not sure where.
Looking at the blocks listed above, most of them when you open the file you have to open them in the block editor, though the stairs show as blocks on a drawing sheet.
I am not clear on the creation process. Mine open like the stairs and i am sure it's not right, ti use them through the palette i have to set it to exploed to work like it should.
This means it's already a block and then i am pasting it as a block on insertion from the palette so i have a block thats being blocked, if you get my drift. I have
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
regards
Stephen

Stephenwell, most of them are just the DB's uploaded (if single and then need to be inserted like any other blocks), where some of the multiple DB submittals were assembled into a drawing file, saved, then uploaded. does this explanation help?

Chris,
Greatfull for your quick reply.
Not sure i understand what you are saying, maybe i didn't explain myself very well ?
I have attached a copy of a DB i made.
For me it seems to work very well and all seems right. Though my questioning comes from a couple of areas.
When i load it to the palette from design centre it goes into the palette fine though to get it to work as it should i have to have it set to explode in the propertie of the tool palette.
this is what i mean by having a block being blocked on it insertion. So to me that doesn't seem right. When i download or even open 90% of those blocks in this thread from you guys, they will only open in block editor. mine wile open as a drawing file with a block in it displayed as it should be after insertion. I am not sure if i am explaining myself very well ?
I havent found anywhere that explains the creation of a db from scratch or to convert an already created block to a db, they all skip the minor detail. the other issue i have is i can't seem to get the attributes to work.
Anyway,
If any of you have the time to look at either to db's and care to comment, i would be greatfull.
Look at them very closely and pick the **** out of them, no offence will be taken.
I just wish to doing this correctly and i don't feel i am.

Stephen

well Stephen, you may be loading cad files with the inserted DB's onto your tool palette. if you open up the file, and it doesn't dump you into the Block Editor (BE), you need to export the block as a wblock into your library before adding to your tool palette (TP). if, when you open a file and it places you in BE, then it is good to go straight to your TP.
Second, i was hoping for this thread (*added by mod: this is a reference to the old "Dynamic Block Sharing Anyone?" thread*) to be a place to show off one's work with DB's. Would it be ok to ask for questions and problems be addressed in their own threads? I'm not trying to limit, but i worry that issues that need assistance would get lost in this particular thread, and that would tend to frustrate the most docile among us...
Stephen, i hope the first paragraph answers your behavior and placement question, and i will look at your blocks soon. Also, have you looked at the 'sticky' link at the top of this particular forum for resources on DB's?
