fatal error 0xff2e Exception at 332bd2dch

we have a dwg, that opens, it can be manipulated (sometimes),

but it crashes when it is manipulated (other times), zooming or plotting

it is a file with many topographical survey points and my colleague believes that a point was attempted to be erased, and thus it corrupted a part in the file.

is there a way to recover this file? what is recommended as the shortest route?

best regards
Refugio

Have you tried an AUDIT and/or RECOVER of the drawing? Can you copy and paste the objects in the drawing into a new, clean drawing? What about inserting the drawing into a new, clean drawing?

Dear Opie, we tried these things,
inserting is not helping.
i think we were wondering about any quicker ways than copy pasting everything. but maybe that is the route we will have to go.

Copying and pasting everything can be just 2 operations. How about wblocking all selectable objects to a new file?

What version of CAD are you using, and is it the same commands that make it crash every time? If it is limited to zoom and pan on older graphics cards that could be the reason for crashing. That used to be a problem here until we got newer computers. As for the error code I could not find anything on the web for it.

[ SNIP ]Hi

Take a look at the following post...

Red AutoSNAP marker

Issues / Problems with random crashes are notoriously difficult to resolve due to their very nature.... hopefully Ed's little guide will help.

Have a browse of the following thread (it does not answer your particular problem, but hopefully you will find a few pointers that you may wish to investigate)...

Fatal Error ... blah blah blah

Have a good one, Mike

I know this is an old post, but this still appears to be an issue.

I have drawings that I can work in without a problem, and then all of a sudden, I'll be in a command, usually LINE, and panning around to connect my construction lines, when BOOM, CRASH. Sometimes there's an error, sometimes not. The error, when it is there, is not always the same; sometimes the unhandled exception at blah, blah, blah error, sometimes the AutoCAD has encountered a fatal error and must shut down error.

I have submitted the error report countless times (twice already today) to no avail.

I tried adjusting the hardware acceleration, this seemed to work for a while, and now it's happening again. It's EXTREMELY frustrating and I'm hoping someone, somewhere, may have a solution for this..

Try the "age old" answer you always get when everyone's stumped: WBLOCK, choose Entire drawing, OK. See if the same error happens in the created DWG file.

I think it is easier to solve it if you will post it here in the thread.

I appreciate the answers, but it isn't that simple. It doesn't happen in just one drawing. When it does happen, it doesn't always happen in that drawing. WBlocking is not an option, because once it's crashed, it's a bit late to do that, and it may not happen again in that drawing. Posting a drawing here won't do anything, because it isn't replicated on other machines.
