AutoCAD 2000i - Section or Slice 3D Solids imported via Xref

Perhaps I've been spoiled by ProE, but it seems that sections & slices should be possible at any level of an assembly. Unfortunately I'm stuck with ACAD2000i at this workstation and wonder if anyone knows of a workaround that allows the stated functionality?

If you just want to see the result of sectioning, I find the CLip option of DView woks on everything - including custom objects from (at least some) 3rd party developers.

viewing sections using dview is fine, but I need to capture actual sections to be dimensioned & referenced on multiple sheets. For this particular Coalescer vessel I'm looking at 20+ sections views to capture 1300+ nozzles and various structural details.

Have you looked at Solprof/Soldraw/Solview?
Personally, I hate that route but it should work.
