Assigned Materials to Structure Not Displayed

If I sign materials to the object styles structural beam systems, structural columns, and structural framing, only the structural beam systems display those materials. The structural columns and structural framing do not display with the materials assigned, they are simply gray.

How do I assign materials to these elements?

You should have a material parameter for the families themselves, depending on how they have been set up. Try changing that, or editing the family if it doesn't have that parameter. Or are you looking for a global solution?
