View Full Version : Ceiling Shifting in Export.

Hi all,

we've got a problem here with a reflected ceiling plan, that when we export the sheet in question to DWG, the ceiling grid shifts horisontally in either direction for a random amount of units.

This' been a known problem in this office, and no-one has a solution, nor an understanding as to why it happens!

We're tearing our proverbial hair out here, so any comments are welcome :)

Cheers, but I've already done that, and there doesn't seem to be an answer, and the only workaround seems to be exporting just the view and not the sheet, which isn't really the best solution for us...

I'm having the same problem when I export the sheet, but the grid stays in place if I export the view instead. You might try that. I'm up against this again today too.

Same problem here ... driving me nuts. I am in contact with autodesk & hoping for a solution soon.

Anyone have any news on this?

I've just found that consultants are working on my exported ceiling grid dwg which is wrong as all the gridlines have moved.
This will leave a lot of egg on my face when I try and explain it's a known software problem that has been around for years.

What gives ? accurate export of data from revit to ACAD should be the #1 priority.

You have to export the view only as far as I know. This isn't that bad as usually the way revit exports sheets isn't how you would work on it in autocad. So for our consultants I export views, ie A-FP01 or A-CP01 for floor and ceiling plans. Then send them a titleblock separetly. Let them set up their xrefs.

Scott,

Thanks very much.
Exporting view only has worked.

I must make time to request via support to get this issue fixed, as we should be able to export dwg sheets and not worry about (and check) that exported information is the same as revit/printed output.

Does anyone know if this problem exists with other elements as well as ceiling grids ?

Mies,

We also had this problem recently (on a 9.1 project) and sent it into Autodesk back in April. The support request is still pending.

The only thing that worked for us was to check the box on the export menu to "Export each view or sheet as a single file". We then opened it in Autocad and bound them (view and sheet) together. The engineers had no problems with them after that.

Good Luck,

CD

I see I'm coming in a little late on this topic, but i ran into this same problem. The cause of the problem, for me, was that we were using shared coordinates instead of letting revit set the coordinates wherever. When i exported an rcp that contained a ceiling grid, using the shared coordinates, the ceiling grid was out of sorts. But when i changed it to the project internal setting, the ceiling grid came out fine. Now, i realize this doesn't help answer the question, but i hope that this can give somebody else (with a little more knowledge) a clue as to the problem.
