In working on a pre-engineered metal building, I have a wall composed of the metal skin, 8"girt, 3-1/2" stud and gypsumboard. Due to a differential in the height of the stud and gypsumboard verses the heights of the girt space and the height of the metal skin, I unlocked the various materials to set to their differing dimensions. I went to the section to make the change and find that I am only getting one shape handle that goes across multiple materials. It seemed that in earlier releases, we could get a shape handle for each material. Has that changed, am I dreaming a function I desire, or is something else going on.

Select the wall in question, go to properties, & place a value in the "top extension distance" column.

Thanks Andrew, but there is a number already in the top extension distance from moving the girt initially. Maybe I was not clear, but I need to be able to adjust the hts. of multiple materials not all to the same ht.,ie. gypsumbd. and stud to 8'-8", girt space to 15'-10", and metal siding to 16'. Can we not get a separate shape handle for ea. material so that they may be moved separately? [hope the temperature is lower in Maine than here in coastal NC 91F]

Not to my knowledge have you ever been able to do what you ask. It would be great, you can in section grab each layer and move them up and down if they have been unlocked in the wall structure. Maybe thats what you are thinking of.

We're cool today.

To be honest, this software changes so fast, at my age, it's tough to remember all the features.

Maybe what you're thinking of is the edit cut profile tool. It's an option that's still available for view specific changes.

Scott: Precisely the idea.
Andrew: Thanks, looks like at present the cut edit tool is the way to go [when working in CD phase].
