cost & material takeoff

I'm subscribing to the old addage " there's no such thing as a stupid question".

What is the difference between doing a scheudle and including a cost parameter vs doing a material takeoff and including a cost parameter?

Also, I tried creating a column schedule using "schedule/quantities" and columns don't show up there, so I'm assuming material takeoff is the only option?-

A schedule will report an element while a takeoff will report a material.

If you are talking about the architectural column, you are right. You can use a multi-category to schedule those
