Dimension only to core( without any near faces)?

When I try to give Dimension to a wall (that contain 2 cm of face ) and I chose- Prefer : Faces of core in Revit, how can I give Dimension only to core faces without any option to any near face? today even I chose this option I can give Dimension to a face ant it make me mistakes or to work with a lot of zoom in.

"CORE ONLY" toggle! You are travelling the same path as many others, please submit your request to support so it will (hopefully) be counted with the rest of ours.
It would be soooo nice to trust that the dims are indeed to the core. I too spend a ridiculous amount of time zooming in and out to make absolutely sure it is grabbing the core. I've experienced a project that I missed where one of my dims didn't really like my core preference and decided it actually preferred the finish, a minor detail like that causes stress in the field along with the embarrassment of inaccurate documents. THIS HAS GOT TO BE AN EASY FIX, why it has not been addressed is a mystery to me.
