Hey all,

I was doing some R+D and thought that i would post a sample from some of my early attempts. Not sure if it will be useful but here it is anyway.

Heres a render of what it looks like:

And heres the MAX file:

The file requires Tom Hudson's Greeble plugin, which you can find here:

http://max.klanky.com/Greeble9.zip

It was done in MAX 9 and rendered with VRay 1.5. The materials are just procedurals so you may want to paint up a custom texture or use something you have.

Enjoy.

Its a series of modifers to get the effect. It basically starts out with a flat plane with segments and through the modifiers ends up looking like that. So it is geometry....not a displacement map.

Hey all,

The R+D is for an upcoming FXWars challenge. I'm going to be, loosely re-creating the scene from An Interview with a Vampire, where Claudia gets burnt to a crisp by the sun while locked in a well.

Here is a test render from one of the camera views. There is going to be considerable changes to the lighting as well as the addition of alot more geometric detail. Still very early in development.

I just can;t wait to start animating the crumbling ash effect. Gotta finish this environment as fast as possible so i can get to the fun stuff.
