I have a range hood that is set to be 6' above the floor (out of view range). in the hood family I made the hood model not visible in Plan view. But I added symbolic lines to show the outline in plan. I cant seem to get the lines to show up in plan. Is there a way around this?

Try to add an Symbolic Invisible Line from hood to floor in your Hood Rfa.

Not sure what you mean...If I were in the " left" view of the family I would draw a line from the floor to the hood? Not sure what that would help?

That would help because now the family is being cut in your plan view, so the symbolic lines you had placed to show in plan view would now show up. As of now, your family is not being cut because it is placed above your cut plane, so this should help.
