(sorry if this is a repeat, I searched to no avail)

A co-worker is having a problem with the way she can select and change properties of entities in the property palette…
If she, for instance, selects on a ceiling grid and goes to the properties palette to change the bay size, she can not just highlight and type in the correct size, as I can.

It will not allow her to select the text, she has to use the 'PICK 2 POINTS' button to the right of it.
I tried searching help for variables on the properties palette but see nothing related to this.

Is there a variable that changes this option?

TIA!

What is you're PICKADD sysvar set to? Also take a look at the options for selection.

Thanks Steve I'll check on that and let you know what I find.

A co-worker found this...

I found a thread of information in the Autodesk Discussion forums regarding the problem Stacy experienced with the Properties palette where a cell of information losses focus before you get a chance to type anything in it. In the thread it was said that this is a known and common ADT2004 error (I had never seen it myself) as well as in ADT2005, although not as frequent on the later. They said that if you “dock” the palette to one side, instead of leaving free floating, the problem tends to go away.

I must admit its never something that I have witnessed before, although I now use ADT 2006+2007.

I haven't heard anything back from her yet. I'll wander over there after lunch and see if she saw my co-worker's email.

I have noticed in ADT that text fields on the properties palette may not follow conventional use as in other parts of ADT. Most of the time, clicking on the text will automatically highlighting it. Some think they still need to highlight the text again and it does not get highlighted. Another problem comes when the text is longer that the box it is in. For example if the properties palette is small and 200'-0" does not display completely in the box, once you take your cursor over it a tool tip is displayed with the full text line. You have to click the tool tip once to clear it, then click the text again to highlight the text. This problem seems to have gone away for the most part in ADT 2007.
