Linked File - Can't Dimension to face of core

I seem to be unable to dimension to the face of core in my linked model.

Can anyone confirm the ability to do or not to do this?

I just checked on one of my files and I had no problem dimensioning to any part of the walls from or to the linked file. As far as I know this should always be possible (assuming that your wall has the core defined properly- a wall is required to have a core).
What are your specific issues? I imagine that you changed the dimension properties in the option bar to faces of core and then tabbed into the core? Your pick is set to individual reference? Your generic option is aligned (not linear or angular)?
