I'm running AutoCAD 2007 on an Intel Pentium 4 3.00Ghz , 2g ram, ATI 256 Mb Ram Radeon 8500 Video card, under Windows Vista Ultimate. With the new upgrade of Windows Vista, AutoCAD needs to be launched in Administrator mode. Runs great, however i can't solve the jerky mouse while drawing. I did everything possible, Upgraded all drivers, bought a new Microsoft Razer Habu mouse , purchased a new Video card (NVIDIA GeForce 7900...) already removed that, and still no change. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? With the new release of AutoCAD 2008 change this problem?

Hi, and welcome to AUGI!

You may have already checked this and I may be way off base, but I have had this happen to users here. Is snap on? In other words, is the cursor snapping to the grid, thus giving the "jerky" appearance?

How far is your linework from 0,0?

Does this happen in a new drawing that contains no enitites?

Steve,

I'm intrigued by your question. Is there a relation between having too many entities far away from 0,0 and performance?

In short, yes.

For the long answer, have a start here or check out my blog.

Steve,

Very interesting. I'll have to read up on that. Thanks.

There will be a patch in the not so distant future for AutoCAD 2007 to work properly with Vista, but the decision to spread that into other verticals at last word was yet to be made. I would guess you have a mouse driver issue or more specifically, perhaps AutoCAD is attempting to control your mouse instead of Vista. If this is the case, look into the advance features (or program specific settings) of your mouse driver and see if you have the option to not allow AutoCAD control (or perhaps the reverse, just allow AutoCAD to control your mouse while in the program).

Yes, 2008 should solve this issue as it will be Vista compatible.
