We are trying to copy our Balconies from Architectural to Structural. We have tried creating the balconies two different ways.

The first way was to create a model floor with the exact profile of what was required for our balcony. Knowing that RS will allow copy monitoring of floors. Well it would not allow this.

So then we tried creating a precast floor and apply a void sweep to accommodate the profile of the balcony. This almost worked, but almost doesn't cut it! When I went to copy monitor this it would let me click on it to copy, but would not actually copy it into the project.

Does anyone have any tips to get around this besides separately creating them in both projects?

Thanks

It's a real limitation. Stairs being the other glaring blind spot. Personally we have refrained from recreating any Data between the datasets in the manner you describe, just a cash land mine really. Instead we have opted for either Structural or Architectural to step up and take full responsibility for modeling various elements. if it means your engineer puts happy things on the railing, or the we add structural elements to our stairs, so be it. I have no idea what a stairs should not be made Copy/monitor-able, as it could solve both our problems. As more structural engineers come online with RS, it will become impossible not to.

It's strange that it wouldn't allow you to copy/Monitor the floor...how was the floor created that RS cannot Copy/Monitor it? Just curious...

Thanks,

Luigi

The floor was created with the Slab/Floor Command in both Structural and Architectural (I tried making it both ways) It would let me copy monitor it as long as there was no void put in it. As soon as I put that void in it, it would not let me copy monitor it in either program.

I only have a few months working with Copy/Monitor, so the Pro's and Con's are still not fully known....Your situation is definately a big Con!!!
