View Full Version : Disappearing View Title Tags

Here's a strange one ... apparently, all of the view title tags within our entire model have disappeared. Obviously this is a little eerie and frightening. We have a 180 MB central model, with about 8 people actively using the model.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is there some sort of global tag view parameter that exists? Or are we looking at sending our model in for an Autodesk tune-up?
Any help would be appreciated.

Locate your view title family and make sure someone didnt snarf it. OR obviously make sure your view is NOT set to " no title"

Just checked both those thoughts ... View Tag is still in model ... and its not a VG issue, as its every sheet in the model. Very odd ...

So the annotation family (rfa file) associated to the View Title (system family) is still in the project and assigned properly to "Title" under Graphics, in the type parameters of the View Title?

Any chance someone grabbed a viewport, hit "select all isntances" and put it on a view title of type "no title"?
We have had that happen as well, lol...

I appreciate all the responses ... but am still struggling for the source of the problem. We only have one View Title family in the model ... the default Revit "View Title" family. So I don't think anyone could have selected all instances and replaced them.
I just reloaded the .rfa and overwrote all existing parameters just in case the family had been corrupted - and still no view titles.
I've checked the Visibility/Graphics of a few of the Sheets ... and under the Annotation tab they all have the "View Title" annotation checked to appear, with no overrides.
I'm not 100% sure how to check: "View Title (system family) is still in the project and assigned properly to "Title" under Graphics" ... is the Graphics here the Visibility/Graphics dialogue?

In the project browser where all of your sheets and views are, look at the very bottom where it says family.
click the + next to it,
then + annotations,
find "view title" and right click on "view title" ( the one with the +) and select "edit"
This is the view title family currently loaded in the project, if it looks wrong or blank that is you problem. you can reload it from the imperial library under annotations. In fact you may want to reload it anyway. It will ask you if you want to replace the currently loaded family. YES.

Reloading the Imperial template version of the "View Title" was what I tried earlier. No dice.
Mystery continues ...

I bet you anything that this is where the problem is. Select a Viewport on a sheet or just the view title, then go to its properties. Now click Edit/New and you'll get into the Type Properties dialog of the Viewport System Family. In your case, Title is probably set to <none>. You need to choose the annotation family (rfa) that you want to display in your view title in here.

Hooray!
The mystery is solved.
It was the viewport properties ... thanks a million for the persistant hunt for the culprit. This a fantastic forum.

When 3D component and cubicle become one...you have become Revit.

Is there any way to set the default View Title? Mine always defaults to "View Title w/ Line" and I want the title w/o a line.
