I am doing something wrong I am quite sure. I am trying to use the midpoint of an existing wall as an origin in order to mirror a wall.

Are you selecting "Axis" in the Options Bar? Unfortunately the mirroring command is not like Autocad where you can just select a midpoint and drag the cursor to define an axis.

Well, pick the pen symbol and then you can draw your ref plane for mirroring

I was just being lazy and attempting to skip this step.
Thank you. I suppose I could have created multitudes of
ref planes in the time I took to post this thread and check
for replies.

for replies.No need to create reference planes, what I believe Daniel meant was when you use the mirror command, pick the pencil tool on the axis menu instead of the default arrow tool. The pencil will snap for your start point then move the pencil in the direction you want the axis. It will not physically draw a line.
